You can experience recovery
through addiction treatment.

How do you know if you or someone you care about needs help?
Here are some questions to help you decide. Note: The word “drug” below refers to an illegal substance or a medication used more than a doctor has prescribed.

(Quiz provided by CAGE-AID.)

  1. Have you ever thought about reducing your drug or alcohol use?

  2. Have people annoyed you by criticizing your drinking
    or drug use?

  3. Have you ever felt bad or guilty about your drinking
    or drug use?

  4. Have you ever had a drink or used drugs first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or get rid of a hangover?

Two or more positive answers suggest the possibility of a serious alcohol and/or drug problem. If you feel you are in trouble or that you need help, don’t be afraid to take the first step.

Clients may seek treatment for many reasons, though usually they find that one or more areas of their lives have become unmanageable. They may be having problems with family relationships or difficulties with their employers. Sometimes they find themselves in the midst of complex legal, medical or financial troubles. These are some of the factors that motivate a person to seek treatment. The negative consequences related to these problem areas often finally lead the addict to say,
“I'm in trouble. I need help.”
